In Her Element

The snow didn't last long.
That's not unusual.

Twenty four hours later
the colors of the leaves were shining in the light again.

Perhaps a bit duller
from the freeze
but still a beautiful expression of autumn.

There had been enough snow, though
for Fergi to be in her element.

It's hard to imagine that for eight years
this little girl knew nothing but a wire cage.

And that the first time her feet touched grass
She recoiled in fear
Almost as if she was in pain.

Look at her now!
(It's a study in monochrome and movement.
If you biggify these you can see 'em better.
At least that's what Moma - with her old eyes - says.)

Here she is.
Lunging forward.
Taking the lead.

Pausing to look about.

Sniffing for treasures.

Exploring her world.

Considering the experience.

Practicing her Lacie-look.
(What?  How'd that get in here???)

And generally smiling and giving thanks.

She's one happy little dog
outside in the snow.

I like it too!
And so does our Girl.

And
Soon
We'll get another snowfall.
And another chance to romp and play in the fluffy white stuff.
Followed by more beautiful mild days.

It's supposed to be near 70°F (21°C) and sunny this weekend.
We're hoping to take a hike near the red rocks
close to our home.

We're crossing our paws.

Wow, you have snow. Snow is something that only happens here in the winter once, perhaps twice; if, at all. How lucky you are.

The snow is a little thinner but it's still there. It was very cold here today but not cold enough for snow. Just freezing rain. It's actually colder here at the moment than in Winter. Very strange.
You temps this coming weekend sounds perfect.

We love seeing Fergi enjoying her life - we smiled at all her photos - she clearly loves the snow.
We liked her look of confidence as she took the lead to explore her world.
How happy in the second bottom pic - we wish we were playing in the snow too.

Miss Fergi, I am singing your praises! I love watching you enjoying nature, and the thought of sweet little you spending 8 years in a cage brought tears to my eyes (again).

We just popped back to tell you that you guys got it!!!
We thought the pictures were quite clear it was Martha saying this is MY BRIDGE!
Bailey was always scared of the bridge - since the squirrel chase she has got over that but Martha is not for sharing. It was quite funny cos Bailey just stepped over her and she just sat there!!!
We must do a post about the Battle of the Bridge soon.

SNOW _ is THAT what it looks like? We may just have to head west into your part of the country and see for ourselves - been so long since we had snow that we have forgotten the feel and taste of it.

Great pics - looks like all had fun.

I think Fergie is a lot like Arrow! Hopefully not as crazy. He loves snow. Loves rolling in it. Running in it.

My humans go to Loveland till Copper opens. They're addicted geriatric snowboarders.
