Happy New Year 2010

Happy New Year Everybloggie!

We're having a bit of a tough time
being away from our family.
While they're there.
And we're here.

(Actually that's really not true
we're doing FINE
but we want them to think we are missing them.)

So.
To make them happy
We quick made a trip to the beach to paw them a New Year's message.
And to paw YOU a New Year's message too.

You know.
It has been a special year for us
Making so many new friends
All around the world.

Sharing a common bond.
And understanding.
Each other.
and knowing
All about Love.
Truly getting it.

Right now
We're wanting to wish Everybloggie
a wonderful 2010
a healthy year
with happy adventures and healthy days.

And
especially
We are wishing for a year
with more loving homes and full bellies
warm beds and special treats
for even more furries that are in need of them.

We know that just this week
another feral cat has found a furever inside home
with Butchy and his family.
Hootie is now an inside cat.
It's a done deal.
(Yay!)

And
Just tonight we learned
that 'cause of Graham's short new life with Sophie
another two-legged was impressed by the idea of adoption
and another rescue is about to happen.
(Yay!)

We hope that dozens more of those stories will unfold.

And we dream that everyfurrie will enjoy
a healthy, happy year
with families that love them.
And care for them.
And that they will pass the word on.

We are all the lucky ones.
Those of us here with blogs.

Thank you
All of you
For making us a part of this family.

Happy New Year 2010!

Love
Jake and Fergi

Pee esS
Sally posted some pictures of Jake's romantic Christmas Eve with her in London.
It's pretty clear they had a special time!
(He's had a starry look in his eyes ever since he got back.)
You can see it here
and Jake promises to post pictures that he took
Once Moma is back home to help.
And I'll try my best to make sure he shares
some of the details
if you know what I mean.

Oh.
One more thing.
Please forgive us for being so remiss in visiting our friends' blogs
and leaving comments.
It's not that we aren't thinking of you.
We are.
A lot.
And we WILL be back!

News from Colorado - and London

Hey Everybloggie!

We've been writing to Moma
(with PJ's permission, of course, 'cause we are good little dogs)
and Our Girl is going to sneak our messages onto our blog
so we can keep you up to date
with our days and weeks while we're here and they are there
over the Christmas holidays.

Here goes.
Sort of a diary.
Straight from our paws.
With PJ's help.

Friday, December 18 (the same day you left us at PJ's house)
Dear Moma
Just wanted you to know that I am still outside most of the time barking at the neighbor's dogs.  They bark at me so I have to bark back.

Love, Jake

Dear Moma
I now have my tail up and am taking treats from PJ's hand.  Thank you for our stockings.  We can't wait to open them on Christmas Day.

Love, Fergi

Saturday morning
Good Morning Moma and Nina

We had a good night last night.  I spent most of my time outdoors, but my barking decreased a lot!  I don't know why - but I just love being outside.  When PJ would open the window and tell me to come in, I would do so.  I would get a treat for doing what I was told to do (the others all got treats, too - I think they were supporting me!) then I would go back out again.  Then, one time when I tried to go out the dog door was closed off.  No big deal - I just came in for the evening and snuggled on the couch with everyone else.

Fergi is really glad that you left the gold and green blanket.  She not only lays on it, but smells it a lot, too.  Last night I slept on the bed.  Wow, one person and three other dogs!  It was a full bed but PJ said she liked it like that.  Fergi chose to sleep on a little bed with a blanket right by our bed.

This morning we greeted PJ with lots of wags and excitement.  She says we are little stuffed toys.

Bye for now - Jake (and Fergi)

Christmas Eve Day
Dear Moma and Nina
We are sorry we have not written sooner.  Aunt Peggy has been nursing a headache for over a week now.  She still treats us all very nice, even though she is having this head pain.  She said it is nothing to be alarmed about - just a part of her life now.

We are very anxious to see what is in our stockings.  They are sitting on the kitchen window by our BIG sack of dog food.  Often, they are pointed out to us with an exciting announcement of how many days are left until we can see what is in them.  Cry Baby Buddy had his birthday yesterday.  We almost forgot it until evening - so we had a little party, sang happy birthday to Buddy, and all had some doggy ice cream.  It was a grand event.  We pigged out then all nestled in our beds for the rest of the evening.  Even Jack Jr. (from downstairs) joined us for the celebration.  It kind of reminded us of the parties we use to have with Ol' Jack - but this time it WAS all dogs.  We also had tennis balls bouncing everywhere and were so excited when we caught one.  Since this was a small private dog party, we were all good kidz and there were no fusses to be had.

Dexter (the most recent WFT rescue) went to his forever home on Tuesday morning.  He sure was a nice guy to have around.  Now there is one less bowl to fill - however, that also means one more space on the couch!

Yesterday and last night, it snowed and snowed.  We have about 8 inches.  When the sun came up this morning, we looked out the living room window and it looked like a Christmas greeting card.  I am sure we will miss going for a walk again today.  Today, we have to help clean the house so Santa will come and visit.  Honestly, we don't care that it is orderly, but she said if we didn't get things straightened up that Santa might not come.  Boy, after that birthday party last night, we can't imagine how Santa will top that fun.

We love you, miss you, but we understand that you are having a grand time in Florida.  Merry Christmas to all,
Your Jake and Fergi

Christmas Day
Dear Moma and Nina

We wish you a merry Christmas and a healthy New Year!  This morning, we got up (excited as usual) and found that Santa had left us both a stocking full of Crunchy Treats with berries.  At first, we were told that there was something in our stockings and maybe it was coal.  But that was just a joke, because we were told that only very good dogs get Crunchy Treats - and THAT IS US.  Also, being the nice dogs you have brought us up to be and in keeping with the spirit of Christmas, we shared with Little Annie and CryBaby Buddy.  Now, we are just hanging out watching the UFO/USO marathon on the History Channel.  Do you think there is such a thing as alien dogs living on another planet???
Do you think they might look like Annie looked at Ol' Jack's Birthday party?  (That was the only picture I could find right now.  She does look very pretty.  Don't you agree?  We're lucky doggies to be staying here with them.  And with PJ)

Love, Fergi and Jake

Saturday, December 26

Oh Moma, we had such a wonderful treat this morning! You know, just because Christmas DAY has passed, the 12 Days of Christmas have now begun and the Christmas Season continues.  Today, we helped fix an omelet for PJ's breakfast.  Even though we had breakfast earlier, we got a second (small) helping of bacon grease over a few kibbles and about four of our crunchy treats.  Boy, did that put us over the top.  We are now all content with our bellies full, it is snowing outside, and the stove is steadily burning pellets.  So peaceful and warm.  Jake likes cuddling up on the couch with PJ and I like my little bed by the TV so I can watch everything.  Yesterday, the sun was out on the fresh snow and when I looked out the window I thought I was looking at a picture postcard.  Today, it is clouded over and the roads are not to good.  I am glad we are safe and warm.  We miss you too.  We are sad to hear about the cold situation and hope you all get better soon.

Wow, can you believe it?  We have already been here over a week!  We remember all of the routines here and everything is fine.  We miss you all!  Thanks for sending the picture of ZoĆ« in Florida - it helps us remember our cousin.  She looks like a Christmas angel.  Did you give her the Christmas treats you made?  And what about the holiday collar?

How are Chloe and Andy?  When will we get to see pictures of them?  We miss those silly terriers!

By the way, Jake did not tell Miss PJ that he had slipped out on Christmas Eve.  (No wonder he is so tired.)  PJ thought he was barking with a little limey accent.  Now she knows why!

Later, I need a nap.
Love and kisses,
Fergi (and Jake)

Dear Moma.
Okay,  I'll tell you a little bit now and promise to tell you the whole story of my Christmas Eve adventure to London for my very special winter stroll with Sally.  I know you don't want me to spend too much time on the computer while I'm at PJ's and you are in Florida, so I'll just tell you that I had a wonderful time, and I think Sally did, too.

Just like Miss Enid said we should, at first we were accompanied by her family.  And we took a nice walk in the snow.  I tried to be a gentleman.  And I let her take the lead.  She looked so pretty.  We were both happy to be outside and it gave us each time to slowly get to know one another.  Can you see her looking back at me?  Do you think she liked me?

Before the night was over, we went on a carriage ride, which meant we got to sit next to each other and relax and enjoy the views.  It felt nice, Moma.  I liked it.  I hope she did, too.  I know.  I should've given her my coat to wear. I offered it.  Her had gotten full of snow from a fun snowball fight.  But she wouldn't take me up on my offer.  She said she was fluffy and warm.  I hope it was because she was having a nice time.

There is much more to tell, and we took lots of pictures.  Once you get back home to Colorado will you please help me to share them so everyone can see all the beautiful places we went, and realize all the fun we had.  Please?  Plus.  I want to remember it forever.

It was so nice.  I knew I'd like Sally.  And I did.

Love,
Jake (please tell NinaGirl I miss her, and that if I'm understanding correctly, she's not going to be there when I get home!  It's gonna be hard to wait another few days to see her!)

For You From Us

It's here.

Christmas.

A lovely season.
A lovely day.

One that holds lots of memories
Happy and sad.
One that holds lots of promise.
One that holds a celebration of faith
and the joy of family and friendship.

This Christmas is similar to last, in many ways.
We are still in our furever home.
This is our second Christmas.
We are once again staying at our Rescue Angel's home
Miss PJ.
Our family is once again with extended family
in Florida.
We once again have Christmas stockings to sniff out.
We once again have a snowy scene to enjoy
through a window in a warm loving home.
We once again have gentle touches and soft voices.
We once again have a forever home to return to.
And we once again have a family that will return to us.

But this Christmas is different in other ways.
What is different?
You.
Our dozens and dozens of friends
that we've met these past several months.
Our friends who share with us
the joy of the bond between furry and human.
Who hear us.
Who speak the same language.
Who understand.

Our friends who have made us
laugh
cry
think
question
who have helped us to
risk
celebrate
experiment
explore
and who have shared with us
trust
understanding
compassion
and
love.

There is no greater gift that we could ask for.
We feel like we "have it all."

We have a loving family
and we have friends.
You.

We want to wish for you
a wonderful holiday
and
a wonderful season.

We hope the day
in whatever way you recognize it
is very very special.

Our Auntie Judith
has a beautiful Christmas card on her fridge.
It has been there all year.
She received it last Christmas.
We love it.
Moma and our NinaGirl love it.
And we decided to share it with you.

The message is simple.
And we could not say it better.

It's by an Anonymous author.
(Perhaps it was written by Santa Claus.
He's a good man and he's looking for people who are nice.
Maybe these are the behaviors he's watching for.)

Anyhow.
Here it is.
Our Gift to you.
From all of us.

Winston, Fergi, Edwina, Diana and Jake

Brady and Erin

❊❊❊

This Christmas

Mend a quarrel.
Seek out a forgotten friend.
Write a love letter.
Share some treasure.
Give a soft answer.
Encourage youth.
Keep a promise.
Find the time.
Forgive an enemy.
Listen.
Apologize if you were wrong.
Think first of someone else.
Be kind and gentle.
Laugh a little.
Laugh a little more.
Express your gratitude.
Gladden the heart of a child.
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth.
Speak your love.
Speak it again.
Speak it still once again.

❊❊❊

With that
We are here to say
We love You.

That may sound trite.
Or superficial.
But the joy you have made us feel
Has made us a happier family.
And because of that
We thank you.
And
We love you.

Right now
As our time is filled with the activities of the holiday season
We miss coming to your blogs.
We miss reading and leaving comments.
We miss you.

But we'll be back.
And we look forward to it.

In the meantime
We want you to know we think about you.
And are thankful for you.
And feel we've been given a great gift
in you.

Thank you for your friendship.
It is one of the greatest gifts in the world.

Thank you for the time you spend with us
and share with us.
Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for being you.
Each of you.

Love
and
Merry Christmas.

We're Here to Say ...

It's that time.
Time to say
Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays
And to wish all of our Friends a wonderful holiday season together
Full of Joy
Brimmed with Celebration.
Flowing with Love.

It's a busy time of the year.
but one that deserves some quiet reflective time
together
with time to pause
and to consider the real reasons for the season.

Whatever the faith.
Whatever the beliefs.
It's a time to realize, appreciate and enjoy the Gifts we've been given.
Including each other.

This was last year's Christmas pose.
In our funny Christmas slippers.
We decided to share it.

Moma just didn't quite pull it off
to get a new picture for this year.
But since no one
(or at least few of our readers)
saw this last year
We'll use to to share our Greetings.
The spirit is still there.
And it makes Moma and our NinaGirl smile
when they see it.

We want them to smile
and to know that even though we aren't together for the holidays
we are in good care
with someone who loves us
and understands.

We are with our Rescue Angel
Miss Peggy
PJ
who made Moma promise that if ever she needed to leave town
that she must never kennel us
but instead bring us back to her to be cared for.

So here we are!

Our people are tender-hearts
and
It was sad to say good bye.

But we'll be fine
Better than fine.
We'll be loved and treated very specially.

Besides
There's a big island to pace around

And sometimes we can even pace together.

(Maybe I'll lose some of my "fat")

Moma brought my blankie
(Well, okay, NinaGirl's blankie - but it smells like home)

and I found a big bed
(Moma said it was okay if I got up on it
Plus, there's a doggie ramp that leads to it
So it must be just fine.)

Jakey found the sofa
Which is not only comfy
but opens to beautiful views.

and we promised to write.
Every once in a while.

This is harder for our people, really
than it is for us.

We'll be fine.
Better than that.
We'll have a good time.

We noticed that Moma brought our Christmas stockings.
We know where the treat jar is.
Miss Peggy always gives us a cookie before bed.
and
She loves us.

Besides
We've got some fun adventures in store
and
After we've been here a while
We'll let our Rescue Angel in on our plans.
We think she'll agree.
And we'll all have a grand time.

So.
In case we don't get much opportunity to come visit everybody
Know that we're thinking of you.
Hoping your holidays are filled with Joy.

We love you

Merry Christmas
Happy Holidays

Christmas Treats from 'Cross the Street

Moma's been busy baking.
And it's been making us hang out in the kitchen a lot.
To Wish.
and
Wait.

The Insult?
I got described as "fat" recently.
How does it happen?
A girl gets fat on a carefully controlled diet?

It's my fluff.
That's what it is.

Anyway.
Moma's had these packages lined up on the counter.
And we've been delivering them to neighbors.
It's been fun.

We've liked giving and sharing.

AND
We've been lucky dogs
And have been on the receiving end.

Weeks ago
Our 'cross the street pals
Bailey and Samantha
(A Bichon Frise and Havanese)
Brought Jake a Toy.
A Flattened Chipmunk.

I was curious about it.

It was nice and quiet.
Not threatening or intimidating.

And
Turns out it has become Jake's Favorite Toy.

He sucks on the nose.
And he gently holds it and treats it with care.

Unlike most of his other stuffies.

We keep forgetting to tell our Pals what a Favorite it is.
We've gotta remember to do that one day soon.

So, anyway, last night
We come home and find a package on our doorstep.

Moma brought it in and put it on the floor where I could sniff it.

Last year I wouldn't get near the packages under the tree.
This year I am getting braver.
(Maybe if I stretch way out I look slimmer?)

I poked my nose in.

And started drooling again.

Jake took a little more assertive approach.

And discovered just what was making us drool!

Yummers!

I think I'm liking this time of the year.

And it seems that I'm not the only one who needs
to worry about over-indulging!

Thank you, Bailey and Samantha
and your moma!

(We think they may peek at our blog sometimes!)

AND
Thank YOU blogging doggies
who have sent us cards
We didn't even put our names on the DWB Card List
and still they arrive in our mailbox!

Our mail lady is figuring out that we have become quite popular!

Heeheehee!
Love

Mall Crawl 2009 and Pleas for Paws Around Justin

Sleigh bells ring!
Are you listening?
In the lane
Snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
We're happy tonight
Walking in a Winter Wonderland!

The Mall Crawl 2009

After a long string of sub-zero nights
the weather tempered
and we joined several other wire fox terriers
(organized by Colorado Wire Fox Terrier Rescue)
and walked the 16th Street Mall
in downtown Denver
Saturday evening.

This was my third year for the event.
The second with my furever family
(The first year I came with my Rescue Angel Peggy
shortly after I made my way to Colorado WFT Rescue.)
This was Fergi's first year
And it was a huge event for her.

Both of us were in awe of the lights and sounds.
But were excited and ready for the adventure.

Buildings and trees were beautifully lit up and sparkled.

Denver glistened.
Our Big City.
At Christmas.

We peered in the windows
(And some of them spoke to animal lovers.
Biggify this one and you'll see what we mean.)

The decorations were lovely.
Can you see the poinsettia tree?
It was one of Our Girl's favorite sights.
(Next to our cuteness, of course.)

It was a lot of fun
to quietly stroll along
and look at the pretty sights

and to meet other dogs

and to enjoy the attention from all the nice people
who admired all of our charming adorableness.

Several asked for cards
when they learned of the Wire Fox Terrier Rescue program.

We wish we'd kept notes
of all the nice comments
and taken pictures
of all the big smiles
we generated.

Old people and youngsters alike.

We were a festive holiday attraction.

Especially when we entered the Brown Palace Hotel.

An elegant historic hotel
that serves afternoon tea and evening cocktails
amid the grandeur of a beautiful eight story atrium lobby

The chandelier loomed above us

and the pianist serenaded us
while Jake imagined running the stairs
and sticking his snout through the balcony railings.

But we were good dogs.

We attracted lots of positive attention
as we mingled on the periphery
and as we posed on the steps for a Holiday Photo.

Fergi did really pretty well.
She was sorta scared
but she handled it with lots of support, encouragement and reinforcement.
She walked part of the time
And (happily) let Moma carry her the rest of the time.

As people came up to her to pet her
She educated them about Rescue.
She was a good little ambassador.

And she especially loved the last part of the evening.

Sitting on Moma's lap.
Enjoying a latte

Watching the passersby and enjoying the quiet sparkle of the lights

And even seeing Santa Claus make his way down the mall
in his carriage.

Knowing we'd been good little dogs
and hoping we'd enjoy his visit later in the season.

We fell asleep as soon as we nestled into our blankets back in the car
And dreamed as we drove home
of visions of sugarplums
and doggie treats
and maybe even some pressies.

We heard Moma and our Girl say we certainly deserved them.
We were very good little holiday doggies
who brought good tidings and joy
to the evening.

Everyone enjoyed it.

PS

We've recently learned that one of our WFT friends
Justin

Could use some support from the Circle of Paws.

Justin doesn't blog
They live in Maryland.
He is an amazing 15 years young.
He has a pacemaker.
He has struggled with several other medical conditions.
But most importantly
He is one super-terrierific boy
who was one of Moma's and Our Girl's first online friends.

Recently Justin has gone off his food
Lost his appetite
and
is generally not himself.

Naturally
His moma and papa are beside themselves
and are trying their best
along with Justin's trusty VET man
to "turn him around."

Pleeze
Keep him in your Prayers
and
we're sure they'd appreciate it.
And we would too.
