Still More Adventures

We've been here more than a month now
and
Life has been Good
VeryGood

Even though it's been hotter than Blazes
and
We've had to try to get accustomed to MajorThunderboomers and DownPours
(There have been almost eleven inches of rain this month!)
We've had a chance to get to the beach and get our SugarWhitePaws in the SugarWhiteSand

It's a pretty LaidBackLife

With time to Sniff and Snort

and
 Time to Snooze
(When we're not worrying about OurPeople who sometimes disappear under the water)

We're feeling pretty Lucky
Even though only small sections of the Beach are DogFriendly
(They just don't understand ... the People who make the Rules)

but

We follow the Rules
Begrudgingly

However

Seeing as how we LOVE the Beach

We're getting even Luckier!

Moma and AuntieJudith found a LittleResort for Dogs and TheirFamilies

It's on a QuietPart of the Beach
Close to our FavoriteDonutShop
Right on the Gulf
Only EightMiles from Gramma'sHouse

A PerfectPlace to watch the Seagulls and Sunsets
(Even if we still can't put our Paws in the Sand)

and

We agreed to take them along for a MonthLongVisit
Next Winter!

WooHooo!

We're already excited and are almost ready to start counting the days!

In the Meantime
We're finding OtherAdventures to keep us Active and Happy

Like a Walk in St Andrews State Park

Come On

Follow Me

And we'll follow Gramma and Bella and Zoƫ
for some RealExcitement

Seems Peaceful enough, Right?

A GoodVantagePoint

and
A QuietCalmInlandLake
(We dipped our VeryHotPaws at the edge, Fergi and I did ...
... Moma took no Pictures ...

and

That turns out to have been a VeryGoodThing

It seems Someone was lurking
(Look carefully ... do you see him?)

In case you couldn't see, we'll zoom in a little bit
(Can ya see him yet?)

He could see Us
and
He was watching

but
not
for
long

'cause
Moma swept us up in her Arms
Took us back to the Trail
and
We hightailed it OuttaThere!

One thing we are NOT
is AlligatorBait
NoWay
NoHow
Never

Anyhow

From what we hear
Pretty soon we'll be Hightailing it outta Florida

We've been seeing Piles growing
and
Treats being bagged

We think AnotherRoadTrip is in the VeryNearFuture
(Which means we may be in absentia again ... but we'll be back ... we promise
We don't think there are any DogEatingAlligators where we'll be going!)

We love ya,
Jake and Fergi

Friends Whose Names Start with "J"

Exactly one year ago Today
We were on our CrossCountryTrip to visit Bunches of our BloggingPals

Including Justin
Our LongTimeFriend who lives with his People, Missy and Stevie
in MerryLand, USA

(Justin at the beach in 2009 ... photo stolen from Missy ... we love this picture)

What a Totally Terrific Terrier ... at 16 years old ... he is
(Right, Missy?)
He's amazing and we love him (and his people)

(We sure wish we could be making that VeryFunTrip again this summer
What an FabulousTime we had)

Well
Exactly (okay ... almost exactly) two months ago
A VerySpecialBox arrived in the mail
(We were still in Colorado ... that was forever ago)

It was SUPPOSED to be in Celebration of my 6th Birthday
(Ummm ... Moma ... that was in May)

Well
Guess who didn't get to open the Box in Colorado?
and
Guess who brought the Box all the way to Florida?
and
Guess who kept the Box on her dresser in our Bedroom?
and
Guess who knew that box was up there?
and
Guess who sniffed it out (with a little bit of help from Bella)?

It was TooMuch

After weeks and weeks of waiting
and beginning to believe that Moma was NEVER gonna let me open it
Guess who decided to take things into his OwnPaws?

Yep

I pulled it down when no one was looking
and
Opened it up All by Myself!
(Talented fella, aren't I)

I got caught in the Act

But not before finding a nice Bag of BlueberryTreats

And getting it nicely Open and Accessible

That was all it took

I got things started
and
Moma let Fergi and me finish the Job

And, boy was it worth it
Happy Happy Happiness All Around

We know
Sometimes waiting for things makes them ExtraExtraSpecial
These BirthdayPressies from Justin and Missy and Stevie are proof of that
BigTime

I can bark for all of us:
We feel so lucky to have all the BestestBloggingFriends that we do

and

We feel 'specially Lucky when we get to meet OurFriends
Snooter to Snooter
or
Hand to Fur

Which we did
Last week

Recognize these two HandsomeTwo?

Just Harry and Jake
(Thanks to their mom for the photo that we grabbed)

They're looking at us with a little bit of Yearning in TheirEyes
(Don't let their mom tell ya it's 'cause they just got a fur trim ...
... it's really 'cause they're remembering
That their DogMom came to visit us ... WITHOUT them!

Yep

It's true

Seein' as how we are sorta ColoradoTransplants in NorthFlorida
and
How Jake and JH's mom was temporarily transplanted from SouthFlorida up North
She came by our gramma's house
JUST to give us SuperSpecialScritchies

Which we LOVED

Even in tandem
(Lucky for us, she is ambidextrous
and really good at splitting attention)

We were in Awe ... her touch was Amazing

We ALL loved her visit
and
We promised to try to make it happen again

but

NEXT TIME
We hope that Jake and Just Harry can join the fun
at the DogBeach near OurGramma's

(with ice cream)
Life is Good

Somethin's Fishy!

One of the things we really like to do when we're here in Florida at the beach
is go down to the Marina on SaturdayMornings

The two-leggeds seem to really like the Farmers' Market
(So do we, actually ... there's an especially good DogBooth there)

but

more than anything

I'm partial to the AmazingAromas that waft through the air
I'm positive that they come from SomethingVerySpecial

Lucky for Us
When UncleSteve and AuntiePatti arrived for a Visit
from their GulfCoastal FishingTown further down the state
They brought some of the source of that FamiliarSmellingSpecialness

and

We all got an RealUpClose and PersonalExperience with Them

It was Heavenly

Sniffing and Sampling

(At least some of us thought so)

ExtraLargeFreshShrimp from the Gulf
Part of a 500 pound Catch the day before

and

We got to help handle that SlipperySmellySpecialness

(Can ya smell 'em through ThisMovie and almost feel 'em slip through your fingers?)

If you're interested
UncleSteve gave OurGirl a ShortTutorial on cleaning 'em
(and you can hear an example of his DeepSouthSouthernDrawl)

It was all LipSmackingGood

We (well ... some of us) sorta liked them raw
But we ALL loved them cooked up in garlic and olive oil

and

Yes!

We did get to TasteTest

Yummers!
We're likin' it here.

Independence Day Revisited

Better Late than Never
Right?

Thought we'd share our Independence Day (and night and day thereafter) with you

With pretty much a PhotoEssay
MostlyWordless
(Considering how much we can get to sayin' on occasion)

(Moma and Some of the Girls went to the Beach to watch the Fireworks at night)

We stayed behind ... FireFighters rather than FireMakers
(Can't say so much for the IrresponsiblePeopleNearby who sent WaywardFireworks our way)

We don't have pics of "The Incident" that Night

But what happened was This

We had OurHeads buried under pillows
(Getting our BeautySleep)
In the care of UncleSteve
With television blaring to drown out the Booms and Bangs, Whistles and Screeches

as well as

apparently

The Doorbell.

It seems there was a bit of a Problem

Like

A Fire in the Pinestraw
Flames a-blazin'
Right in the Bushes
Near the FrontDoor
Right around the corner from OurBedroomWindow
All unbeknownst to us

and

Voila
(Hurray)
VolunteerFirefighterNeighborMrPreston came to the Rescue
Hose in hand, ringing the doorbell and banging on the door
('Cause of deaf ears)

He was OurHero
and
Gramma'sHero, too

He put that fire right out
Only StinkySmell and BlackPineCharredEarth and Bushes remained
When Moma and OurAunties returned

After looking at the damage the next day
We knew just how lucky OurGramma is to have such GoodNeighbors

It was all a PrettyDramaticEvent
but
We're trying to put it behind us
and
Most of All
We're Happy to be back at the Beach in the Quiet and Calm

Just like we like it

Peaceful and Pleasant

We'll be the first to say
We are VeryHappy to do without All the Drama

We love our Simple, Quiet Relaxing Life

(More soon!)
(Can ya believe it?)

Indulgence

This Is What Memories of Summer Are Made Of

'Nuf Said

Pee esS
... if you are just now finding that we're back ...
We wanted to let you know
There's More before this
and
Even More to come

Right now we need to take a GoodLongNap
