Just Trying to Have Some Fun

Well
You prob'ly know by now about little Bella
(Granmoma's new Girl)
(This was a picture from a few days ago ... when we were still allowed to be Together
and I was worrying about her)

Now
Bella's gettin' better.

She's eating
and playing
and waggin' her Tail

but she's till snorting
and sneezing
and coughing

Her pneumonia must be gettin' better
but the nasty Bugs that caused all of this are still inside her
and gettin' blasted out

So
We're all quarantined from Each Other
by two DoggieGates

There's been lots and lots of Handwashing
and there will be for the rest of the time that we're Visiting

(Seems this Bug hangs on for weeks and weeks ...
and we don't want any other doggie to get sick)

Of course
We're being exceptionally good Pups
Behind the Gate
and on the Bed

We're entertaining Ourselves with Toys
and
New Unidentified Objects

(Soft, white, squishy, nice smelling ones, carefully wrapped in plastic)
(Ummm ... that photo up there was a little reenactment)

and
Let's Just Say
We had a Bit of Fun when Nobody was watching!
and

Please Notice

I said "We"
'Cause Fergi played a part in this, too
(Though she denies it)

But
The Good News?

Nobody got Mad
Nobody Scolded Us
We even heard a few Chuckles

Why?
Might be maybe 'cause
Now we've got "The Bug" too

Just a mild Case

(Snorting and Sneezing ... but no fever or loss of appetite or fewer tail wags)

and
Everybuddy is feeling a bit sorry for Us
All of Us

But
We Will Prevail!

(So long as we're kept in Good Tissue Supply)
(with Lots of Hugs and Loves)

Looking Up

First, the Good News

Bella is now officially a Member of our (extended) Family

and

Everyone is really happy about that.

She's the perfect little dog to fill a big hole in Granmoma's Heart
and
We all love her
(and she seems to love us, too)

And more Good News

Since she's landed in our Family
She's been assured that she'll get whatever it takes
to get her Healthy, Happy and Strong

A little History:
Bella came home last Friday afternoon ... bouncing and playful
Saturday late afternoon she went to the Vettie for a good CheckUp
at the VeryNice AnimalCareCenter

The staff there knows Granmoma VERY well

and
They are VeryNice.

Well

Bella got a Clean Bill of Health
and
An Appointment to be Spayed

Then
Saturday evening she started to dive
Fast and Deep

Sunday she went back to the Vettie

Sneezing, Occasionally Coughing
Running a Fever
Not Eating and doing nothing but Lying Around

An Hour Later
All 14.9 pounds of her
Came home on Antibiotics

Then
This past Wednesday
(When her VeryNiceVet was back in the office)
She went back
(This time it was all 14.2 pounds of her)

She'd not eaten more than a VeryFewNibbles
and
She hadn't made much Progress

Wednesday night she spent the night in the Hospital
Where she got a Battery of Tests

A Respiratory Panel was sent to South Florida
to try to figure out just what NastyBug she (and several other doggies) have
and
Some chest x-rays confirmed Pneumonia

While there Bella got Lots of Food (some syringed)
and
Two "Spa Treatments"
(Nebulizations)

(That's not Bella ... it's some NiceDoggie that modeled for the Manufacturer)

Thursday afternoon she got to come Home
Back her new Moma's Arms
On Antibiotics
a High Calorie Diet
and
Orders for Return Visits to the Clinic for more Spa Treatments

In the meanwhile
Fergi and I got to make our own Visit the the AnimalCareCenter
for Booster Vaccinations
and Bordetella Snorts
(Of course I charmed them)

and we got
VerySpecificOrders to Practice VeryGoodHygieneHabits
and
Separation of the Dogs

(That made us sad ... but we all want to stay healthy)
(It's worth it)

We're doing our Best
Trying not to Complain
and
Really
It's going pretty well.

Bella is eating (and hopefully gaining weight ... Lucky Girl!)
She's playing again, a little
Her tail wags again, sometimes
and
She DEFINITELY knows who her new Moma is
(They are VERY attached)

As for Us?

Well

Moma is like a Hawk

Watching us VeryVeryClosely
and
Noticing EverySneeze and EverySnort

We are Sneezing and Snorting
Sometimes

but

We don't have Fevers
We're eating Really Well
(Fergi ALWAYS eats well ... and I'm giving it my Best Try
just to please Moma)
and
Mostly
Our Tails are Up

(Same with Zoƫ ... who is in isolation at her Home)

Moma thinks that our VeryStrongImmuneSystems
Must be fighting this UglyBug

So Far
So Good

Now
To lighten this up a little

I brought out a few Smiles at the Clinic

It turns out this VeryNiceVeterinaryOffice
Has some VeryNiceArtwork

and
After close (and prolonged) Scrutiny
I gave it my TopSeal of Approval

Those were VeryCute Puppy and Kitty Pictures

I loved them BOTH a lot
(You should've seen me sitting on the floor
Staring at them for at least five minutes
First One, then the Other
Before I finally climbed up on the bench for a Closer Look
and
a Good Sniff

I think there is a New Career in My Future
Animal Art Aficionado and Critic

It's clear that I have very specific and discriminating Tastes.

I detested those Modern Art Sculptures this summer in New Hampshire

(They scared me and I didn't want to get close)

But I loved the Cute Puppy and Kitty Pictures at the Vets'

It'll make going back something to look forward to
in the Event I have to Return
(We're hoping that won't be the Case)

So

There

We've brought you up-to-date
As of Saturday night

Thank you Thank you Thank you
for all of the Support and Understanding

We'll say it again
It is sooo worth it

Bella is Family
and
We Love Her

SomeDay ... Hopefully Soon
This is all Gonna be History

#A035891 (introducing Bella)

I made little Andy a VerySpecialPromise
Before he left us for the Bridge
Earlier this month

He reminded me of how much his moma
(Fergi's and my granmoma)
Loves to hold and cuddle and love Little Dogs

including
(Angel) Andy and (Angel) Chloe

and all her little dogs before them.

And he reminded me how much she loves to give her little dogs Treats

Even at our home in Colorado

and little Andy reminded me
of how much Gramma loves to see our sweet smiling faces
We make her smile back

and
He reminded me of how much Love she has to share
(as if I ever might've forgotten .... NOT!)
and how Love grows
and how the Heart never can have too much Love
and
How how Little Angels Andy and Chloe want her
to Always Remember
and
to Always keep her Heart growing Bigger and Fuller
of and with
Love

So

When the Time was Right
Granmoma and I had a little Talk

and
Shortly Thereafter
We all made a VerySpecialTrip
to a VeryClean but VerySad Place

and
We found Her
(Or, rather, she found us)

The VeryFirstLittleDog that Granmoma laid her eyes on

A VeryScared and VeryHopeful A035891

Not just a number
But a VerySpecialDog needing and wanting a Forever Home

And from there
It was sorta History

She and Granmoma fit right Together

at the Animal Control place
(yep ... she was an inmate)

and
Just a few hours later
in Gramma's arms at home

It was pretty much Love at First Sight
(both directions)

and
I got down to Business
Helping Little Miss A035891
(yep ... she's little ... all of 15# next to svelte 20# me)
Get the Short Course on being a Doggie in this Family

and
She seems to be a pretty QuickLearner
(and a pretty one, at that)

She listened

and
She told me a bit of her own Opinions

Bottom Line
We're patiently and tenderly helping her settle in

Right now
She makes it pretty clear
She needs Rest

Lots of it.

Seems she's got some sort of Health Issues right now
that're gonna need Time and TLC and VeryGoodVeterinary Care

It could be a bunch of different Things
or
Several put Together

(She won't eat
She's running a fever
She doesn't play like she did the first night
She's coughing and snorting a little
and she's really really quiet)

But we know one thing
She's in a Forever Home
with a Moma who loves her
and a Family who's gonna do our doggonedest
to nurse her back to health

'Cause we're excited to PLAY
with
Bella!

xx
Jake

Pee esS
Fergi loves her too
They've just never been in front of the camera
at the same time.

That'll come soon.

UPDATE

Sweet Bella is now charming the Doctors and Staff
at the Animal Care Center
as of this evening.

When she went back to visit her VeryNice and VeryCompetent Vet
He wanted her to stay.

Granmoma is sad and worried
but
We know Bella is where she can get the VeryBestCare
and
She must know that she is Loved
and
That her Furever Family is going to do Anything and Everything
possible
to help her get Healthy and Happy

We'll Miss You Little Andy

Little Andy drew his last Breaths today
In his moma's arms
Naturally
Quietly
Peacefully
as HisMoma held and stroked him in their favorite chair
and
as OurMoma held and stroked both Andy and her moma.

It was sad
Very sad

We somehow knew when we woke up
Something was different

It was to be Andy's last morning with us here
on Earth, with our Family

We acted differently

We were quiet
We moved slowly
We stayed in the bedroom
Both of our tails were tucked and our ears were sucked back
Our heads hung low

We knew

We knew Gramma needed time with Andy
and Moma needed time with Gramma

We knew before anyone else really knew

They had a couple of hours together
Before he left

and

We all had wonderful Christmas and New Year's celebrations with him
These past few weeks

Other than one "bad day"
Little Andy was Happy and Alert
Curious and Active

He tasted apples from the Rocky Creek Scotties

and helped open Pressies

Some for Him

Some for Others

Then his time to leave came

His little heart grew tired and lost its battle
but not before
He shared moments of Shared Love and Tenderness
A true example of the Joys that a little dog can bring a Family

Andy left to join his sister (littermate) Chloe
Who gave up her struggle with canine cancer in July

and now they are once again Together

and
They run the Fields across the Bridge

Free from Cancer
Free from Congestive Heart Failure
Free from all the Challenges that faced them their last few years

And now we will remember them
with Hearts full of Love
and Memories of VeryHappyTimes

And we'll think of them
Waiting for us
Across the Rainbow Bridge

In the meantime
We'll do our VeryBest
Trying to comfort and console our gramma

In our own Quiet and Tender Ways

(Thank you for your Love, Understanding and Support)

Jake and Fergi and OurMoma
(and OurGirl, who is sadly aware, at college, back in Colorado)

Leavin' on a Jet Plane

All her bags are packed

She's ready to go

She's standing here outside her door
(Another wired tee by Square Dog
We figure she'll always think of us when she wears it
and that's a ReallyGoodThing)

... Already we're so lonesome we could die.
(Big Sigh)

We're gonna miss her
A lot.

We love OurGirl
Sooooo much.
