In Amazing Repose

Wow!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Did you?
We hope so.
Whether you celebrated Thanksgiving, or not.

We had
Perfect Weather.

and

We enjoyed
Family
Friends
Food

We took
Naps

and watched
the 83rd Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
(Did you see Petey's Moma?)

We saw
Santa Claus in NYC
(We Believe!)

and
The Westminster Dog Show

We saw some of our buddies.
Was that you Stanny? Mitch? Noah? Bogart? Farfel?
You're looking mighty fine.
But how did you get in that box?

We watched
Miracle on 34th Street
(We still Believe!)

And we took more Naps

Ate more Food.

And
Went on really nice Walkies.

We were pooped pups.

I was one tired dude.
By late afternoon
I had to find a place to prop myself.
Close to the food.

Still

We enjoyed
Phone Calls
Text Messages
Multimedia Messages
(Love those digital photographs
They made us feel like we were there
with our friends and family
Even when miles separated us.)

We took still more Naps

Ate leftovers

and had one last taste
of Pumpkin Pie.

Eventually
we collapsed
into bed.

I snored.
Fergi wheezed.
We all had had too much to eat.
But we were happy.
Really happy.

And then
As if that wasn't good enough
The Next Morning
The Day After
A special Parcel arrived in the mail.

An early Christmas present from Moma,
she said.

But we were confused.
It had Butchy and Angel Snickers return address on it!

That's because their mama made us
Some custom-made Jammies!

Designed just for us
and made to fit!
In the colors she and Moma decided on!

Hunter green for me
(Moma says I look like a svelte athlete)

And a pretty feminine floral for Fergi
(She and her Sissie Asta can dress like twinnies now!)

And one really really special thing?
We could smell Butchy and Angel Snickers on them.
'Cause their Mama made them for us just recently
and she let both our friends sniff them.
That makes them even more special to us.
We hope it is a long long time
before Moma needs to wash them.

We LOVE our jammies.
We wear 'em like we were born in them.

They are cozy.
They fit like a glove
(No wonder!  They are custom-made!)
And we think we look adorable!

We just have to put in a plug.
Mama Lamb makes these to fit any doggie.
In all sorts of fabric.

We're pawsitive she'd make some for you.
Imagine.
All of us at a sleep-over.
A whole bunch of very comfy dogs.
Stylin'
Together.

Love

Jake

Fergi

Thankful for Our Friends

Well
He did it again.
left us panting and gasping for breath
after reading his Pressing News
in his last blogpost.

And with it
He passed on a new Award
originally created by our mutual pal

It a Thankful Award.

An Acknowledgement of our Thanksgiving Blessings.
This week
and every week.

We've got so much for which to be thankful
Not the least of which are our blogging friends.

We're trying out best
to get this Award on its way
so it can circulate wide and far
this week
and on.

(We'll admit, we tend to let awards sit for a while
Sometimes a long while.
We're "bad."
But this one we're moving on.
As fast as possible!)

In thinking of friends
to whom to pass it on
we discovered that Max of South Africa
had awarded this to us, too.
(Thank you, Max.  It is an honor. You and your family are amazing friends)

So
according to the rules Petey told Eric
and Eric told us
and Max told us
we're passing this on to Five more Pals.
Nope.
Ten more pals.
"Cause we want to spread it wide and far.
Fast.
(Consequently, we're gonna be brief.
We could write paragraphs
about each of these blogging buddies.)

Here goes.
(Maybe, if we get lucky, we'll pass it to fifteen by the time we're done.
It would be easy!)

Maggie and Mitch the Airedales and Autumn the Wheelie

Whenever we visit them
We feel we've stepped into another world.
One of flowers and doll house memories.
Woodworking and barn raisings.
Ice cream and pizzas.
Homespun love and gentleness.

Smoochable Pearly-Poo the Pug.
Who worries about chapped lips
Eating (chapstick)
And busies herself with
(in her words - we'd never assume this)
Sleeping Farting Snorting and Playing
Keeping her moma busy
and caring - a lot -
about animals in need.

Who dearly loves her grampa
(we've made him our honorary grampa
and he doesn't even know it)
and whose moma takes beautiful pictures
and decorates their home with tradition and love.
Plus, we're related.
By adoption.

Our new friend.
Who offers a very personal and intimate perspective on life.
With honesty.
Genuineness.
And love.

Who serve as our role models and mentors
Who provide inspiration, encouragement and support.
Basset girls who understand Rescue and Rehoming
Risk and Trust
Family and Fun
And Forever Love.

Who we will visit one day.
We must.
We love their farm.
Their family.
(Their puppies!)
And the Genuine Love and Caring
that flows from their blog.

What more can we say?
Jake has a crush on Sally.
And one day will get the nerve to openly tell her so.
These two wirey rescues
remind us of ourselves.
And we feel like they are family.

Another fairly new friend.
That we feel like we've known forever.
Sort of a kindred spirit.
A gentle White Dog
that guides her family through heartfelt days
filled with Love, Awareness of the important things
Personal Growth
and Commitment.

Whose Italian Adventures
tempt us to travel
if even in our dreams.
And whose family personify Joy and Happiness
and make us smile and tail wag till we drop
Enjoying their passion for life.

and
finally
(because we need to bring this to an end)

Who is one among many of the feline sort
that have introduced us to the love
of the other sort of furries
(And we have a real "thing" about his paws
on his header.
It's a fetish, of sorts.)

So.
Now.
Dear Friends.
Know how Thankful we are.
For all of you.
And for all the ones not mentioned.

Every day we realize how lucky we are
to be part of this Community.

Enjoy your Day.
Enjoy your Week.
Count your Blessings.
Pass them on.
And make Today really really Special.

With Loving Memories of our Sweet Snickers
and continued healing thoughts to her family
We say to you,
Happy Thanksgiving.
We love you.

Morning Star

Through the blackest night
Morning gently tiptoes
Feeling its way to dawn.

November sunrises
are some of the most beautiful
from our deck.

We'll admit to sleeping through some of them
but Moma managed to capture a few
as we dozed.

Successive mornings.

Beginnings of new days.

Just yesterday
She saw the Morning Star
at sunrise
A little above the horizon.

(She placed this star, because the actual one didn't photograph.
But that is where it was.
She told us.)

Moma stood on the deck
and gazed at it.
And it made of her think of Snickers.
A new little Star in the Heavens.

She watched.
And listened.
And heard quiet whispers.

She gently smiled
As she felt Snickers' Spirit.

Her thoughts were eventually broken
by the jingle of our collars and tags
as we shook out the morning stiffness
standing on the bed
ready for our morning walk.

A new day had begun.
And we greeted it.

With Love.

So Sad

Heaven is Blessed with A Very Special Angel
this morning.

Sweet Snickers
lost her battle.
But not before instilling a deep Understanding of Love
in a World of Friends.

We love you Sweet Snickers.
And we will miss you so.

We are sad beyond words.

Love

Thankful and Flattered

We told her.
"Moma!  The sun's shining in our eyes!
Do we really have to do this?"

And she told us
"Yes.  It'll only take a second if you cooperate.
And I'll give you all a treat when we're done."

So.
We complied.
(We'll do most anything for a treat.)

We posed for a sort of
Family Thanksgiving Portrait
with all our wheelies
and the wheeless
Winston.
Our Patriarch.

Of course.
Now that we've done this.
You can't tell it's a Thanksgiving portrait.
You can't see the wooden pumpkins.
Or the cornucopia filled with carved wooden fruit
that make wonderful toys.
Almost as good as tennis balls.

And the wheelies sort of blend into the background.
But that's maybe okay.
Because we haven't even properly introduced any of them
Except, of course,
Winston.

But we did get our treats.
And they were wonderful.
They always are.

You must know by now.
We are rather
modest
shy
and
humble
Wire Fox Terriers.
Live Wires.
Two Special Wires
(as per Moma.)

We love our new lives.
We love our family
and
We love our friends.

That's all it takes to make us happy.
(Well, the good food
occasional treats
walks
warm comfy beds
and
belly rubs and scritchies
all help.
All those are things
we didn't have before.)

But when we get Extra Special Acknowledgement
It makes us feel lucky and proud.
And we got that
Extra Special Acknowledgement this week.

We were nominated by our friends and mentors Martha and Bailey
with the nomination seconded by our trainers Agatha and Archie
to receive the Awesome Blog Award
by Dogs With Blogs.
Wow.
We are flattered.
And appreciative.

We feel every blogging doggie deserves this recognition
because we get joy
and inspiration
and a lot of good laughs
from every blog we read.

Being part of this community
has been a privilege for us.

It has encouraged us
Introduced us to new opportunities
Reinforced us
Made us laugh
Made us cry

And given us a chance to have a voice.

If you feel so inclined to vote for us
(you must be registered to vote)
That would be nice.
But whether we win or not
Doesn't matter.
Really.

It's the fact that we were recognized
as being worthy
that makes us so proud and happy.

Mostly we want to take this opportunity
This week leading up to American Thanksgiving
to say

We are so thankful for our Friends
And for this amazing Site
that allows free Expression
and sharing of Love
all around the World.

Thank you
Dogs With Blogs.

Thank you Friends.

This Thanksgiving will be more special
because of you.

And we hope it's special for everyone else.
All of our Friends.

Love

The Art of Relaxation

Things are settling down around here.
Just in time to gear up again for the winter holidays.

We know to take advantage of any and every opportunity.
To Relax.

It's easy.
And we're good at it.

Together in the car.

(We can chill out in the car for hours
and never make a peep
and never worry about Moma returning.)

Together on the big bed.

(Fergs seems to think I make a good pillow.
It's fine with me.)

Together on the sofa.

(This is an old picture.
Moma didn't have time to help me find the more recent one.
And this doesn't happen too often.)

And each of us
Has our own individual ways
to relax.

Fergi in her bed
Smothered in pink.

(She may not play with her toys
but she sure likes to snuggle with them.)

And Fergs in the sun.

(If we sneak up on her very quietly
We can get tons of these pictures.)

Me on Big Yellow Cow on my futon.

(I wish she'd put the flashy box away.
I really had intended to nap.)

Me in my ultimate position

(I can do this anywhere.)

And probably my Favorite.

At the piano.
When NinaGirl plays.

I've loved doing that
ever since my first day home.
That bench was my bench.
Or, at least, our bench.

It's simply a cozy, comfortable
relaxing place to be.
With my Girl.

(And she loves it, too.)

Life doesn't get much better.

Simple Joys.

Let's Do It Again!

Well.

In our humble opinion
The Worldwide Moment
was
so Special
so Powerful
so Affirming
so Confirming
so Supportive
and
So much of an Example
of the huge quantity of Love that exists
among all the doggies and kitties
and (who knows?)
hamsters and gerbils
bunnies and teddy bears
and all the other four legged creatures
All around the  World

That we're suggesting making it
An Annual Event.

So
We've created a Countdown Timer
and put it on our sidebar

Same Time
Same Place
(Wow!  That means All Around the World!)
Next year!

And while this year
the event was initially promoted
because of our concerns
regarding one of our very very special friends
It developed
(Rightfully and Thankfully so)
to include all the furries and fuzzies
and their families
that were needing some extra Support
and Love
for whatever the reason.

Next year
By design
the Worldwide Moment
Will be to send loving and positive energy
to ALL
who need it.

Specifically, to all of our Friends.
Those we've met
and those we have yet to meet.

So.

If you want to put the Countdown Timer on your Sidebar
Grab it (if you can)
or
Email us for the HTML
and then
Pass it around to whomever might want it
By inviting them to grab it and post it as well.

If you'd like
Grab the Circle of Paws image too.

Tell those that may be new
or who may have missed this year's event
All about it.

And
as the time gets closer
We'll put a Shout-Out
and
 Spread the word
Once again.

In the meantime
See if you can catch remnants of the Love
on the breeze.

All it takes is stopping briefly to remember
How powerful that moment was
And to know that that kind of power
Doesn't quickly die.

It's still there.
Surrounding us ALL.

Once again.
Thanks Everydoggie
Everykittie
Everyone
For making this so Special

Love

An Amazing Moment!

Did you feel the Power?

At 4:00 PM MST
5:00 PM in Iowa
11:00 PM GMT

We're guessing approximately 500 furry families came together
Joined Paws
and
Shared a Worldwide Moment for Snickers!

(And for ALL the other Four-Leggeds we all know
who aren't well
and who need some extra support.
With such an amazing opportunity
We hope EVERYONE took advantage of it
for EVERYDOGGIE and EVERYKITTY who can use it.)

We had over 400 hits on our blog over the past two days!
Plus so many others posted and gathered even more participants.

We had hits from
the US, the UK, Canada, Malaysia
France, Sweden, Singapore, the Philippines
Australia, South Africa, Germany, the Netherlands
Greece, New Zealand, Italy, Chile
Denmark, Switzerland, Brazil
Mexico, Croatia and Finland

WOW!

We want to thank EVERYONE
who participated!

The feedback has been amazing!

And the impact was powerful!

We are one Incredibly Connected Community
Who came together simultaneously
to share our Love.

Once again we want to quote our friend
who said,

"Our community is an amazing collection
of amazing people (two-and four-legged)
who truly understand
that we are bound together in this universe.
Those ties can be restrictive chains
or they can be a powerful web of light
that is capable of changing the world and producing miracles."

We are so proud to be a part of this!

We really hope we helped support a Miracle.
We believe we did!

(You go, Girl!
Miss Strong Stubborn Tenacious Tough Terrier SuperGirl
Snickers!
You WIN this battle!
And win it BIG!)

We want to say
Thank you
to
EVERYONE

and

We know
Snickers and her Family
Thank you too.
We can just feel it.

Love
Jake, Fergi, MomaSally and NinaGirl

Worldwide Moment for Snickers

Before you read
We ask you
to please help spread this message
as quickly and as far as you can
So as many dogs and cats and families
as possible
Can read it prior to 5:00 PM, Saturday, 14 Nov 09, Iowa Time
(11:00 PM, 14 Nov 09 GMT)
Copy it.
Paste it.
Link to it.
Whatever.
Just please help us get the message out.

As you may know
Miss Snickers is struggling
Mightily
Along with her family.

(The best place to keep up with updates

Last night looked as if it might have been her last.
This morning she rebounded with improved symptoms.

She is far from out of the woods
But she and her family
Including her gentle and loving brother Butchy
Have been granted another day.

We can’t help but believe
that part of the improvement is because of
The support and love that have surrounded her
From all around the world
Thanks to the linked paws
Of her blogging friends.
The Power of the Paw

We are asking everyone to set your alarms
And at exactly 11:00 PM GMT on Saturday 14 Nov 09
5:00 PM Saturday evening in Iowa
as Snickers' family sits down to eat
Turn toward them (in the central USA)
And join together in a silent minute
Of prayer, meditation, contemplation, reflection
Whatever feels right to you.

Followed by whatever means of communication
You choose.

Arrooing
Barking
Howling
Yipping
Yapping
Wooing
Meowing
Mewing
Purring

To wish and send Miss Snickers and her family
whatever is in your hearts
That will help them feel the Love and Support
They need right now.

Personally, we’ll be praying for a Miracle.

 Then

Blow a Kiss
and send your Love and Prayers and Best Wishes
and they will feel their arrival
in the breeze.

OK?
We believe it will help.
And we'll do anything in our power right now
To help.

Love,
Jake, Fergi, MomaSally and NinaGirl
