Reaching Great Heights

We went to AmazinglyGreatHeights on our LastAdventure
One morning last week
We packed up Gramma and Bella, Auntie Judith and Zoë and headed to the Mountains
Our Colorado Rocky Mountains
Mt Evans, to be exact

Leaving home at about 8500 feet above sea level
Where Denver was to reach a high temperature of 95° F that afternoon
We rode (OurMoma drove)
to the top of Mt Evans
One of Colorado's 14ers (mountains higher than 14,000 feet above sea level)
Where the temperature was in the mid-40s F (and a WelcomeRelief)

(There's a road all the way to the top of Mt Evans ... which closes in about one week
Till next summer
'Cause of the weather ... snow is on the way)

Anyhow

We posed for a GazillionPictures

and

We listened to OurPeople oo and awwww
(and watched them grip their toes and close their eyes on some of the TightSteepNarrowCurves ...
Everybody but OurMoma)

The only way we knew to share it all
(and we really wanted to share it)
Is with a Smilebox

Hope you enjoy it

We sure enjoyed OurAdventure

See you soon!

A VerySpecial PetExpo Occasion

A few days ago
In the QuietStillness of the Night
As all the People and the Furries and the Wheeled and WheelessOnes slept
SomethingVerySpecial happened

Someone new joined OurFamily

Elizabeth
aka
Lizzy

A SweetWheelessChilternSibling of Charles (on the left)
and Unsteady Eddie (now in London)

Once well loved, but eventually neglected, and in AbsoluteNeed of a Family once again
She found her way to a ForeverHome where she will always be cherished
(By ALL of Us!)
Now, and Forever
(OurGirl has promised to make sure of that)

Lizzy and WheelessFurlessCharles met nose to nose
(How else better?)

and
Right then
Simple as can be
She became Family

The next Morning
We all met and it was Good
(Curious, but Good)
(me ... Jake)

(Fergi)

(Zoë)

(and Bella)

Lizzy's a Sweet and QuietLittleOne
and she fit Right In

We wasted no time telling her of the Adventures that would become a part of her Life with Us
and
She wasted no time getting involved

Saturday morning she noticed OurMoma dress with Foxy Badges and Buttons on her shirt

and
Moma gathered Lizzy up with Special Goods from her OriginalHomeland
(England ... SpecialDelivery from Eric and his SquareFamily)

We knew SomethingSpecial was going on
Something Moma had been looking forward to for weeks and weeks

We appointed Lizzy the Ambassador for OurFamily for the day ... trusting her QuietDemeanor
Realizing the Event was probably TooMuch for us all to enjoy Together

Armed with a Camera and Lots of Smiles they set off
Returning a few hours later with lots of HappyTails and Pictures

Read On

From a dusty shelf, Lizzy found herself traveling in a CardboardBox
Eventually arriving in OurRockyMountains

And within days, there she was ... in a car ... OurCar

Watching the World whiz by out the Window

She told us she soon arrived somewhere to find lots of cars with Stickers on their sides

and
A Welcome Sign at the Entry

There she was at the Second Annual Denver PetExpo

She must've been a little Bewildered
and
Felt VeryVerySmall

'Cause the building was overflowing with People and Booths

and

More Importantly
Hundreds of WellBehavedDogs with TheirPeople

Dozens and Dozens of Breeds

One of the Booths
Kindly gave her a Microchip
So there was no fear that she might be lost in the Hustle and Bustle
(Please ... if you don't have a chip of YourOwn ... convince your people to get you one SOON!)
(Wasn't she brave?  It didn't hurt a bit!)

Lizzy quickly learned
(You must know by now ... we say that Over and Over ... and we truly believe it)

She found booths with YummyTreats and GreatToys

and

Lots and Lots of Rescue Groups were there
(SoVeryImportant to us!)

As well as Gobs of WonderfulDogs available for Adoption

Lizzy met some VeryUnusualAnimals
(Yep ... he's alive, and on a leash!)

She was not at all worried about this RedTailedHawk ... a bird of prey
(Though she doesn't look very Happy)

She watched Pups running AgilityCourses

In Awe and Amazement

and

She saw (and heard) the Excitement of Flyball

One of the booths was promoting awareness of CanineCancerResearch

There's one in Denver on November 6, 2011
and
Even Sooner
on September 25, 2011
One in Albuquerque, New Mexico (with the amazing help of the WhiteDogArmy)

Lizzy heard Moma talking to the lady in the booth all about it
(Please, if you can, help support it.  It's a VeryImportantCause)

There were booths of Crafters
and
Moma brought home a couple of WhoRescuedWho ceramic tiles
('Cause we all know that Rescue is a Win/WinSituation)

It was really a VerySpecialDay

Everybody loved it

'Specially Gramma
(Who got ... and gave ... lots of Kisses)

TeeHee!
(Good thing she's used to those licks from us!)

We agreed to send Lizzy 'cause we knew it would be a BitOverwhelming
for Us

She did a GreatJob representing Us

and

She got Lots and Lots of Attention
Gobs of Pats
Lots of Smiles
and
ManyManyCompliments on how Well-Behaved she is.

AND

SweetGirl that we've already found her to be
She made sure OurPeople brought home SpecialTreats
Just for Us

She picked them out herself

and

Brought them Home to share

It was a SuperGreatDay for Everyone
They had Fun and we enjoyed hearing all about it when they returned

So
There you have it

We want you to know
The PetExpo moves from City to City in the USA

Here is the schedule, in case it comes to your area during the next year

Lizzy (and we) highly recommend it!
(Be sure and get some Treats!  They are YUMMY!)

On the Trail Again

Well
We're back in OurRockyMountains
Home Sweet Home

and

We're back to takin' some Relaxing and Rejuvenating Hikes
(It's good for all of us ... FreshAir, SweetSmells and PrettyPlaces)

Needless to say
We're Happy

OneDay LastWeek
We talked OurPeople (including AuntieJudith, who's visiting for a coupla months ... along with Gramma)
into walking the trail along Bear Creek
Which passes only a stone's throw from OurGirl's OnceWasElementarySchool
and
Only a few miles from OurHome

Especially Nice
Zoë got to enjoy the day with us
(We wish she lived in Colorado all the time)

We hiked a nice flat path (good for those acclimating to our HighAltitude)
and
It crosses the creek in several places
(We all like the water)

Zoë watched ... from a Distance and with Care
(She's a SmartWhippet ... she knows LittleDogs can get washed away in the RapidlyFlowingWater
Plus ... besides being loud and scary, it's really cold from all the MeltingSnow)

We made sure OurGirl used similar Caution and GoodJudgement
(Wise WatchDogs that we are)

Fergi managed to find a quiet pool where she could sip the water and cool her paws

She was a HappyPup
(She always is, on hikes)

We saw lots of DelicatePrettyFlowers
Some in the crevice of rocks

and lots of ColorfulMountainWildflowers that were scattered along the path

Best of All

There were some LovelyRedTreasures near the stream
(OurGirl found them)

and picked them

and ate them
(and shared them, too)

Delicious Wild Raspberries
(Just like the ones she used to pick in her RussianHomeland ... She and Moma fondly reminisced)

YUM!
They were probably the best part of the hike
We all agreed

It was a good day

Can you tell by OurSmiles?
It doesn't get much better than this!

We're LuckyPups
A LuckyFamily
We know it and are thankful for it

We're already looking forward to OurNextAdventures
(There're sure to be More)
