My Birthday Wish

Well

Thursday is  (or is it "was"?) my Birthday
I'll be six (or is it "I turned six"?)
and this'll be my third birthday in my ForeverHome

I've got it good
and I'm a HappyBoy
(even though I don't look very happy in this picture)
(It's been a tough day)

On my Birthday, it'll be a good day (or is it "It was a good day"?)
Moma'll make sure of that

Prob'ly we'll go on a nice walk
and
Maybe I'll get that BigRawBone that I know is in the freezer
The one just like the one Fergi got in April

And maybe, just maybe
I'll get one of those Kyjen Toys that I happen to know are still left downstairs.

But you know what?
It would've been an even nicer Birthday if I could've shared it with my pal Butchy

However, sadly,
As you prob'ly already know
The Angels called him to the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday
and
After a lousy course of seizures and cancerous tumors
He and his Family bravely agreed it was time to join his sissy, Angel Snickers
and all of the other pups and kits that have gone there before him

We've cried
We've moped
My VSB (VerySensitiveBelly) hit big time today

We've licked Moma's tears
We've stayed near her side
We've all repeatedly questioned "Why?"

and

Over and Over
We've realized that it hurts almost unbearably
to lose a beloved Furry or Fuzzy

but
We know, we believe and Moma reminds us
"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die."
~Thomas Campbell

Butchy will live in our hearts Forever
but
Still
We'll miss him terribly

In his honor
Instead of a birthday party, we've decided that the green papers Moma might've spent on Celebration
We'd like to donate
in Butchy's name
to support canine cancer research
in hopes that one day soon there will be a Cure
and no more pups will battle and suffer

Last fall the White Dog Army brought our attention to the 2 Million Dogs effort
headed by Luke Robinson and his two boys
Great Pyrenees Hudson and Murphy
(You can click on 'em to get to their Facebook profiles)

You may know him from all the publicity
as he and his dogs have traveled by foot 2000 miles
across the United States
To draw awareness to canine cancer and the need to support cancer research

You can learn more about them by clicking on their banner or clicking here

and

If you'd like to join us in our cause
You can click here to be taken the the Donation Page
Where you can give as little or as much as you can and want
in Butchy's name
or
in the name of any dog you'd like

That's My Birthday Wish

(Another alternative ... if you prefer ...
is the Canine Cancer Research, USA organization.

The have a link on their page for donations
(We wish there was a way to make them in honor of specific dogs
but we couldn't figure out how to do that)

Anyhow
We hope and pray that one day there will be a cure
Promise of that would be the best birthday present ever.

Love
Jake the Six Year Old

Colors of Love

Remember Us?
Jake?  Fergi? and OurGirl?

It's been a while.
(Not that we're particularly happy about that)
but
Life has been Good
Busy
Creative
and
A bit LessComputerOccupied

Our Girl has been Home
Then gone again
Then Home again
Then gone again
(It's gonna be that way all Summer ... and Sooner or Later we'll get used to it)

We've managed to sneak in lots of GoodTimes, FunTimes and TogetherTimes
We've been likin' 'em.

Since we're still sorta ColorDeprived
(and since we need to wait 'til after MemorialDayWeekend
to plant BeautifulFlowers outside ...
... cause it could still freeze or even ... yep ... snow!)
We took a FieldTrip to Moma's favorite Nursery and Garden Center

Which just so happens to be DogFriendly
Very Beautiful
and
Lots and Lots of Fun

With all sorts of GardenArt to explore

Some Things which are SlightlyUnusual (and a bit intimidating)

With streams to cross

and fish to spy

and Lots and Lots of BeautifulColors
(OurGirl took one of the photos in this collage.
Moma helped us grab the others from the nursery's FB page
Can you guess which is whose?)

We're waiting, as patiently as possible, for Colors (besides Shades of Green) in OurYard
Plants are popping up and sprouting out
Including the DayLily from MamaLamb at Butchy'sHouse in Iowa
(She gave it to us last summer when we stopped by to visit)

In the Meantime
We've got some ImportantPublicServiceAnnouncements to make.

While we've been Out and About during our ShortHiatus (in the fields)
A NewFoxyDude found a ForeverHome
(and, if you know us, you know how happy that makes us!)

WooHoooo!  Yippeeyie Woof!!

Our RescueAngel PJ had HandsomeBoyHutch
at her Home

He'd been busted from the DoggieJail in Texas
Just in Time
and
He moved to Colorado, searching a NewForeverHome

Well

It turns out our Buddies Chloe and Cecil (and their two-leggeds)
(They live somewhere between us and OurGirl)
Had sorta kinda decided they wanted (needed) a SquareDog of their own
(Teehee ... What an Influence we are!)

So
One thing led to Another
and
Hutch moved in
made Friends
and
Got a NewName ... Winston Churchill Becker
(and ... confident Male that he is ... he proudly wears Pink
Such a ManlyColor)

We'd be waggin' happy if you'd go meet him and his KittieSibs
They are sharing a blog here
and
Like all of Us
They love new Friends and Followers

On a DifferentNote
Some SadNews

Amongst lots of other recent HardTimes
(at Mango's and the WhiteDogArmy and Others we've not mentioned)
One of our BestestFriends (and Fergi's SweetHeart) Butchy (wiry brother of Angel Snickers)
isn't doin' so well

He's turned up with SeriousHealthProblems
and
Lots and Lots of Concern for his People and Friends
(not to mention Big Vet and Medication Bills)

If you don't already know him
Please drop by HisBlog and leave some Words of Hope and Support and Encouragement
(We believe in Miracles)

Also
We want you to know
Our Pal Gussie is running a VerySpecialAuction to help with Butchy'sVetBills
(We love our friends ... they are always there when we most need them)
Be sure to check out the CoolStuff here.

We so wish Life didn't have to be such a MixedBag
of GoodTimes and HardTimes

The only thing that makes us feel better is knowing

"In our Life there is a SingleColor
as on an artist's palette
Which provides the meaning of Life and Art.
It is the Color of Love"
~Marc Chagall

We're counting on that Color of Love
to bring Friends to Winston
(not to be confused with "our" Winston ... more on that later)
Healing to Butchy and his Family
Health and Happiness to All of OurPals
and
Joy to Each of You
Everyday
Always

(We're still on a bit of a Sabbatical, but we'll be back.
Moma promised us.  Hopefully soon.
'Cause we miss you.  A lot.)

Out in the Field - For a While

Hey Everybody
... All our Pals ...
(OnceWere, StillAre and WillBe)

We've decided
We're gonna take Some Time to Rest

Take a Break

Ponder Life for a bit
Enjoy it, too

All is Fine
Good, really

We're just taking some time to ruminate

or

If you'd rather think of it another way

Chew the Cud

So
For Now
We'll be out in the Field
and (or would it be but?)
We'll see ya on your Blogs ... of that we're sure.

xxoo
Much Love
Jake and Fergi
(the Colorado Cowpokes ... or, whatever)
