Well
Thursday is (or is it "was"?) my Birthday
I'll be six (or is it "I turned six"?)
and this'll be my third birthday in my ForeverHome
I've got it good
and I'm a HappyBoy
(even though I don't look very happy in this picture)
(It's been a tough day)
On my Birthday, it'll be a good day (or is it "It was a good day"?)
Moma'll make sure of that
Prob'ly we'll go on a nice walk
and
Maybe I'll get that BigRawBone that I know is in the freezer
The one just like the one Fergi got in April
And maybe, just maybe
I'll get one of those Kyjen Toys that I happen to know are still left downstairs.
But you know what?
It would've been an even nicer Birthday if I could've shared it with my pal Butchy

However, sadly,
As you prob'ly already know
The Angels called him to the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday
and
After a lousy course of seizures and cancerous tumors
He and his Family bravely agreed it was time to join his sissy, Angel Snickers
and all of the other pups and kits that have gone there before him

We've cried
We've moped
My VSB (VerySensitiveBelly) hit big time today
We've licked Moma's tears
We've stayed near her side
We've all repeatedly questioned "Why?"
and
Over and Over
We've realized that it hurts almost unbearably
to lose a beloved Furry or Fuzzy
but
We know, we believe and Moma reminds us
"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die."
~Thomas Campbell
Butchy will live in our hearts Forever
but
Still
We'll miss him terribly
In his honor
Instead of a birthday party, we've decided that the green papers Moma might've spent on Celebration
We'd like to donate
in Butchy's name
to support canine cancer research
in hopes that one day soon there will be a Cure
and no more pups will battle and suffer
Last fall the White Dog Army brought our attention to the 2 Million Dogs effort
headed by Luke Robinson and his two boys
Great Pyrenees Hudson and Murphy
(You can click on 'em to get to their Facebook profiles)
You may know him from all the publicity
as he and his dogs have traveled by foot 2000 miles
across the United States
To draw awareness to canine cancer and the need to support cancer research
You can learn more about them by clicking on their banner or clicking here
and
If you'd like to join us in our cause
You can click here to be taken the the Donation Page
Where you can give as little or as much as you can and want
in Butchy's name
or
in the name of any dog you'd like
That's My Birthday Wish
(Another alternative ... if you prefer ...
is the Canine Cancer Research, USA organization.

The have a link on their page for donations
(We wish there was a way to make them in honor of specific dogs
but we couldn't figure out how to do that)
Anyhow
We hope and pray that one day there will be a cure
Promise of that would be the best birthday present ever.
Love
Jake the Six Year Old
