Double the (Awards) Pleasure

Double the pleasure. Double the fun. Remember those ads of all the sets of twins advertising Doublemint Gum? Well, we're not twins, but lots of people, when they see us together, think we're related. We are, by breed. But that's pretty much where the relationship ends.

We really look very different from one another. Jake is tall and slender and he's a ginger wire. (He has no black, and his tan is a pale ginger color.) Fergi is much smaller, and on one side she has a lot of black and tan patches, on the other side she is what we fondly call "speckled."  We know there is a more sophisticated term, but we prefer to think of her speckles. (You can't see them in this picture. They are on her other side.)

Maybe because there're two of us, we received doubles of two special awards this week!  One set from Rocky Creek Scotties and another set from TN Bull Terrors.  We are doubly flattered, and doubly appreciative.   

From what we've seen as we've visited other blogs (all of which are new to us, since we're pretty new at blogging ourselves), both of the awards will be familiar.  The first is the Proximity Award, given to blogs that invest and believe in the value of PROXIMITY - nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who then choose eight more and include this clever-written text into the body of their award. All this prize requires is to pass it on.

The second award we received is Nemo's Award:  a dedication for those who love blogging activity and love to encourage friendships through blogging. To seek the reason why we all love blogging, the directions are:

~Put the award in a post as soon as you can after you receive it

~Don’t forget to mention the person who gave you the award.

~Answer the Award’s question by writing the reason why you love blogging.

~Tag and distribute the Award to as many people as you like.

~Remember to notify the awardees and put their links in your post.

So, our job now is to answer the award's question:  Why do we love blogging? We love it because it gives us a chance to use our voices among friends that understand the voices of dogs (and other four-leggededs.)  Blogging gives us a chance to express our own personalities, our own experiences, our own joys and passions and and our own tears and fears. It widens and broadens our world of friends to include so very many more dogs and their people than we would probably get to meet and know by simply walking down the street or meeting in a dog park. It's a place of friendship. It a can be a soapbox. It can be cheap therapy. It brings smiles and it brings tears. It promotes attention to little things in life that may go unnoticed and it encourages memories. Bottom line: it's fun. And we're glad we're doing it.

It appears that many dogs and their people that we know have already received this award.  We even wonder how many of you have read this far, since a lot of it becomes repetitive!  We are going to try to find some recipients who may not have have been awarded yet. These are all dogs and their people who have warmly welcomed us to blogging, and who return regularly to see what we are up to.  We hope we do okay.
