Finding Wheeless Wheelie Boy

We weren't able to keep that little Dog out of our minds.

We thought about him when we were awake.
We dreamed about him when we were sleeping.

Remembering the little Dog we'd seen in the illustration the other day.

We knew we could make a difference for him.
We knew we wanted to help him.
We knew we could provide a loving home for him.

So we hunted and we found him.

He'd been removed from the castaway pile of toys and books
and placed inside a cluttered room.
A room full of other things waiting for new homes and new people.

He had shyly posed for photographs
and exposed all the features that might be important
to someone interested in him.

To a loving eye
he revealed hints of his handsome proud youth
underneath his obvious current loneliness and his tattered tired self.

Sadly. Forlornly.
But honestly.
He posed. And he hoped.

We saw his pictures.
And we immediately fell in love with him.

In our eyes, his shabbiness was beautiful.
And his eyes spoke to us with love.
Love that could not be misunderstood or misinterpreted.

This Wheeless Wheelie Boy was Real.
And we desperately wanted to make him part of our family.

We went about doing what we needed to do to make that happen.

But we ran into an obstacle, of sorts.
Wheeless Wheelie Boy was in a crowded room, waiting, a long ways away.
He was clear across the Big Pee.

How thoughtful to take in an unfortunate wheelie. Try to be patient when he first arrives. He won't know the rules of the house and might be scared.

PS - Mom found a lot of pretties at the flea market - if she could get her act together, she'd do a post about it - maybe today. She searched for some WFT, but found nary a one.

Oh my goodness - there isn't a dry eye in this house!
He is just waiting to be loved - you are sooooo right to see past that shabby, old exterior.
You see the love inside and the twinkle in the eyes and the wag of that still waggily tail!
Who needs wheels?!
Surely this wheeless wheelie will fly to be with you.
We loved the music.

OMD Jake, Fergi! Did you rescue him?
He is so sweet and perfect, even after the abuse he has endured (dare I say, JUST like you two were before you found your amazing family!?)
He will be SO lucky to live with you! I can't wait for more of this story!!!
