It's our favorite time of the year
Autumn
In Colorado.
The air is crisp and often cool.
(Definitely cool in the mornings.
It was only 38° this morning when we woke up
Snuggling together under the down comforter was amazing.)
The skies are clear
The colors are brilliant
and the aspens are changing from green to gold.
We make a habit of taking frequent Hikes in the Fall
and hikes are among our Favorite Things to do.
(We may appear to be exceptionally Laid Back Terriers
And it's true
We are.
We know how to Relax and Kick Back.
But we also really really like our hikes.
It's a Wonderful World we live in now.)
Today
On the ride up the mountain to our Trailhead
We noticed the Colors are beginning to turn
Today we went to an Open Space Park
named Alderfer/Three Sisters
a park of 770 acres of Open (protected) Space.

It's a park with meadows, changing elevations, granite boulders
and quite a bit of wildlife.
We hiked and hiked.
About four miles all together, we figured.

We noticed the Colors are beginning to turn
Further up, at a higher elevation in the mountains
The trees are already vivid yellow.
Down here where we live
They are just beginning to turn
In another week or two, there'll be lots more yellow.

There were great places to stop and sniff
and Critters to spy (see 'em? the mule deer?)

and Other Little Guys to see
(Remember. We don't really have much of a predator instinct.
Those fellas are mostly just fun for us to watch.)
(We stole this pic off the internet.
But this black squirrel is just like the one that teased us on the trail.)
And there were Impressive Destinations to enjoy.
Behind me you can see the Three Sisters (and the Brother) rock formation
(Notice that your Tour Guide is now a VeryDustyWire. Oh, Yeah!)
You can biggify the picture with me in it to see the "mountain"
and you can see the Sisters even better in this pic.
The rock outcroppings are metamorphic rock
of the Precambrian Era
(before very many rocks with fossils ... more than 600 million years ago)
(Now. THAT'S OLD!)
(We hope Bertie notices our interest in the scientific and historical facts)
and the rock is mostly silver plume granite.
It was a Great Hike
(even if I did eat too much dry grass
and puked up my breakfast at the end of the trail.)
And it was a great return Home.
I got to eat Breakfast again.
A Nice Surprise arrived on our doorstep
(more about that soon)
and
We both enjoyed a Long Warm Shower.
Brown water washed down the drain
and TwoCleanTerriers
Ran Zoomies throughout the house.
Till We Collapsed.
Waiting for OurGirl.
She's coming home to spend Saturday with us!
WooHoo!
Maybe we can ALL go on another hike Together!

PeeEssWoo: It was a real feel of 95 here today - I'll take your temps PLEASE!
Oh Jake and Fergi I am impressed. You are SO going to be top of my class for the next lecture. And what a lovely place you live. I have never experienced anywhere dusty like that, it is nearly always wet underpaw here in Scotland. Gail tells me that wet is better as you don't get grit in your eyes. Tell me, Wires, is that true? Or is it just something she's telling me to make me feel better about living in a dreadful climate. I suspect the latter. Perhaps we could design an experiment to test the difference?
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
What a swell hike you got to take. Tell us, was the piano music in the video your sissy Nina playing?? That squirrel has some mongo ears! Wow! We love fall too. Cool, crisp and great for walks.
Smooches,
BabyRocketDog and Hootie
Momma gets a little teary watching you guys motor around because there is nothing like the sight of a terrier pumping those stiff little legs and it makes her think of Grandpa Angus.
Then she smiled thinking about how much time the humans actually spend looking at their dog's bottoms from all those walkies.
I liked your big hiking adventure. This is a great time of year with the nice cool clean aire.
Slobbers,
Mango
What a fun, dusty day!!
Please give Ninagirl a hug or two for us.

That looks wonderful, what a great place and strange little animals to
see.
You've had lots of changes Jake and Fergie. Did Moma wash the pesky wheelies clothes? Cos they've been wearing them all summer tho seems to me them wheelies should of creaked their way over to the shower with you and Fergi. Water would of run black then haaaaa!! Mom is threatening to bath Unsteady Eddie.... that'll be a sight for sore pies.
But the sight of you two, your autumn gently creeping in (ours is too) and the sisters rocks? Smashing. Not sore at all. Wish I could join you on your walk. Do you walkie off your lead sometimes too? Just asking. Being nosey Mom says. Then that black squirrel dude.Well. I've never seen the like. Nor knew.Blogging is very educating eh?
Now tell Moma her autumn china is pretty and make sure Winston shows her the art of biscuit dunking. Then Mom says to gently remind Winston is rather partial to a Jammie Dodger or Custard Cream with his tea. And porridge for breakfast now it's turning chilly pretty please.

Hi, Jake and Fergi!
Super hike!
That place is beautiful! I felt like I was walking with you two!
We are waiting for days not so hot like they are now!
Kisses and hugs

We hope you all had the best weekend and truly savored every second of having NinaGirl home. Thanks for the flyers suggestion, I made dad leave some at all of the hotels around the gallery but didn't think of the ones you mentioned a little further away. Tonight we are going to take make sure that they get some! After all, Quinn was a model for one of the paintings...and I AM momma's muse. Thanks
Ohhhhhhhhh if only we could have come with you.... and listen you have to come back here because you need a few more lessons. like squirrel chasing and stuff.. We knew something was up as well when the winter coats and jacket were dusted off.. and brought out.. It is getting a little chilly here as well at night...PL2 is realizing she has missed several of your posts and doesn't know how she did.. We could figure it out but.... A million hgs and kisses A+A
Hi Jake and Fergi and Mom,
I was so happy to see that you had come to visit!!! What a great hike you had!! I use to walk 4 and 5 miles with Joker everyday, but I couldn't do that now if my life depended on it!!! It is so nice that Mom can!! Beautiful place.
The lumps take months to go down and only one day to swell up like a bolloom !!! We start again !!!
She will be 13 years old in 4 days.
XXOO, Bambi & Fern
Such a beautiful area to go hiking in! Interesting rock formations! We are envious - Mommy finished up mountain work and has been in the lowlands. Can't wait till it's a little cooler so we can go out with her again.
Hugs, Miley and Mariah
