Adoption Efforts

Well
We have two lines of interest to say about the topic of Adoption today.

1.

Among bunches of others,
our friends the Wee Bonnie Basset Babes of Scotland
have finally gotten Moma off her bottom to write this post.
It's pretty understandable why we are big advocates of rescue and adoption.
So it only makes sense that we participate in the Pedigree Adoption Drive.
The info is on our pals' blog over at LifewithDogs.
Taking the easy way out,
we have copied and pasted their information
(straight from Martha and Bailey's blog).

Here's the deal:

Each year, more than 4 million dogs
end up in shelters and breed rescue organizations.
Pedigree created The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive
to help shine a spotlight on the plight of these homeless dogs.

So first of all it seems if you just click 'like' on their Facebook page,
they will donate a bowl of food to a shelter
- so far they have over a million -
let's make that two million 'cause we dogs need (and like) to eat!

Secondly - Special for BlogPaws West
For each blog that posts about the PEDIGREE® Adoption Drive
through September 19th
PEDIGREE® will donate a bag
of their new Healthy Longevity Food for Dog
to shelters nationwide.

It’s simple:

Write a post, help a dog.

(We are so glad we finally got Moma to post a blog.
Every little bit helps.)

Like Martha and Bailey said,
"We hope we have all the information
- oh yes, when you write your blog post please leave a link with Life with Dogs - Maybe that saves Pedigree having to try to find your blog!"

So there.
Do it!
We did!
(Finally)

2.

As much as I'd like to have a kitty in our home
As much as we'd like to Adopt one
(and as much as Moma loved having her Hymn a LeighAnn with Kizzy years ago)
The truth of the matter is
It's not gonna happen anytime in the near future.

Moma helped us understand.
And we listened.

We travel too often,  for too long.
It wouldn't be fair to the kitty.
And we only want to provide a home when it can be
a Purrfect Furrever Home
for whomever comes to live here.

So.
We will have to live on Memories
Fantasies
and Occasional Opportunities
to get our (my) kitty-fix.

Sigh.
(I love you, Ruby)

Thanks for helping our neediest brothers and sisters with your post! Moma is right, kitties are for a time in your life when staying at home and enjoying sunning together on the deck and watching the snow fall from the window are the only plans going...that time will come; it is just not now. In the meantime, make LOTS of kitty friends and love them all.

Hi Jake and Fergi,
You are being very smart not to have a kitty right now. When you get older and stay home then will be the time. We never go anywhere!!
Kitty love things to be the the same!!
I am going to blog one day soon about how I got into feeding the coons. I have lost a many coons from the road but not in the last 10 years. They 6 laned our road out front and built apartments across the street and the coons stay home now and don't wonder. Thank goodness!!!
Loved to see you had visited!!! It had been a long time since the last time!! Come again sooner next time!!
Love you all, Fern

Hi Jake and Fergi
Well done with the post - we are happy to have been 'copied and pasted' if it means more doggies get much needed food!
Where would we be without rescues and shelters.
We understand about the kitty - our mum still misses Mouschi, but then she was with us for 22 years.
However right now we are more than enough for anyone and as you say we can be packed up in the car!
We are sorry to be such bad bloggers and we will try to catch up.
Our mum thinks she is having a blogging block whatever that is!!!!
love and kisses

HEEELLLOOO - we have been away far too long! Maybe far too long? What is this about a cat? We saw a video of you snuggling with a kitty? Say it isn't so Jake, was it something I said? Or didn't say?

A cat? Now I have a BIG reason to dislike them!

On another note - well done on the Pedigree food donation. We are off to check out how we can help too.

We love that you guys did the pedigree post - we did one too to help support doggies!

And we can understand why you wouldn't get a kitty - we can be a handful! And besides, keep in mind kitties can get JEALOUS - how would Ruby feel if a kitty moved in there with her doggieman!
